Change of Haven: Leaving WI for Texas

I hope to get back to blogging before the decision to leave for good reigns. Days have passed by really fast and yet, blogging-wise, it has been so slow for me! I have had a whole lot of stories to tell but it has been a drag getting all these thoughts be organized into readable and sensible write-up, but today, I shall try to fight the ‘lousiness’ and update you with the latest in me (and my family).

One huge news that I am going to share is our big move. In June, we are leaving Wisconsin for good and we are headed to Texas! For five years of Wisconsin lifestyle– our choices, plans, and desires of our hearts will now make us bid farewell to University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point which has served us well in the past five years!

UWSP– our haven from Fall 2009 to Spring 2014

It was November last year when the husband was invited for a campus interview at an Adventist University in Texas. Since it is the desire of our hearts to be situated for good at a place so dear to our lives, the decision to go came in with lots of fervent prayers from himself, myself, and our daughter Triz. The wait for the decision– acceptance or denial, was a long one, but I say when it is for you, it is for you!

Two months after the campus visit, the husband received a formal offer in the mail.

It was something that truly delighted our hearts and made us exclaim for gratitude for those answered prayers. Without further fuss and hesitations, even if the salary was lower compared to the current position here at USWP, we still went for this because it is the right thing to do for our family, especially our kids.

Why Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas?
Because it is the right place for our family. The university is a church-affiliated institution that is dear to our hearts. Also, Keene is a great place I was told, and was able to confirm it on our visit a couple weeks ago. Most of all, the institution has elementary and high school campuses which are our number one reason for the acceptance of the place. All other good stuff are but a bonus!

So, in June, we will be leaving Wisconsin for Keene, Texas! The husband has already tendered his resignation as UWSP and he has also helped out in screening for the applicants being part of the hiring committee that the university has been choosing as replacement for his position and somebody else’s. So, it is good bye and thank you UWSP for us and hello Southwestern Adventist University as our new haven!

We will be missing everyone that we have met and everything that has become a part of our lives here in Central Wisconsin and that includes the snow! LOL. As much as we want to stay to not cause heartache to everyone who says they will be truly sad of and for our departure and move; life is like that and the reality of ‘change’ will always be around us. It’s just that we get to live such “change” in this very moment of our lives.

For those who will be sad of our move– we are truly sorry. We are sad, too, but we need to go because it is the right thing. For those who will be happy for us– thank you! We are happy and excited as well, although this will entail a new set of adjustments on our part, especially the kids. We can only trust that we will settle in quickly and will get comfortable in the new place, like we have always done so, with God’s guidance and leading.

Thank you for the beautiful days, Wisconsin! Please be good to us, Texas! ;-)
