Before you sign up for a Monash online GDP or any other online classes, it is important to make sure that you have everything that you need for those classes. You have to be fully prepared because there is no physical school to bail you out or give you what you need. Finding all of the right supplies is up to you, and failing to do so can make it difficult or impossible to take the class.
The Basics
The best place to start is with the basics. You need to have a computer with an Internet connection. The class is going to involve video lectures and online submissions of papers and assignments, so the Internet is not optional. If you do not have the Internet at your house or you do not own a computer, it is possible to take your classes on some public computers, such as the ones at the library. Just know that library computers are sometimes only available for set time periods and you cannot always guarantee that one will be open when you go there. You are much better off to use your own computer.
The Course Materials
As far as course materials are concerned, you will need to talk to your professor to see what is needed. All classes are different in this regard. Some professors will send in materials that you can download, some will tell you what books you need to buy on your own and others will not use these materials at all, opting instead to rely on lectures. However, if the professor does give you a list of things that you need, make sure that you get all of them before that first class so that you are really prepared from day one.
The Free Time
The only other thing that you really need for online classes is enough free time to take them. You often have a lot of flexibility with this. If the professor posts a video of a lecture at eight in the morning and says that you simply need to watch it by the next day, he or she is not going to care if you watch it at noon or at midnight. You can take on the class whenever you have time in your day. However, to make sure that you do not forget anything, it is best to keep a fairly regular schedule.
