My husband is a Professor in Math Education. He teaches any Mathematics courses at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and most of the courses he teach are for pre-service teachers. Meaning, teacher education students. As a mentor, he has different teaching strategies to use because not all students are the same.

Last October, he was invited to guest speak at a Mathematics Conference and Exposition in Dallas, Texas and he said that it is a great opportunity and privilege for him to share what he knows about Math that others don’t and to elaborate teaching strategies that work best in the classroom.

The website mentoringminds.com is a great teaching resources. It has link to professional development and researches resources that has helpful teaching strategies to better teach any course to students. When I was homeschooling our daughter, I had to use different ways to get her attention and sure enough, teaching strategies that I have learned from my mentor husband helped a lot. It is a must to use different teaching tools since not all learners are the same when it comes to their ability to comprehend and retain what they have learned.

Mentoring Minds has teaching products in all courses that are absolutely helpful. When one is a teacher, classroom management is a challenging thing to deal with but one can be successful in it when he/she has sufficient knowledge and skills about the diverse personalities inside the classroom. There is a research section also (mentoringminds.com/research) that has resources for anyone who is interested to know more teaching strategies and tools. It’s worth visiting if you’re an academician.
